Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! It's hard to believe it's finally here. Or maybe I should say, it's hard to believe it's ALREADY here. Christmas has an entirely different meaning this year for me. Why? Well, today is my due date! Only 5% of women actually deliever on their due date. Will I be part of that 5%? I found myself talking to my tummy this morning, telling Abigail that it was time for her to come out.

I was looking at my stomach in the mirror too. When I look at myself, I know it me, but it seems like it couldn't be me at all. How is this gigantic stomach mine? And although I know I'm about to be a mother, someone's actual Mom, it still doesn't seem real. People keep telling me, don't worry, you'll see, it will all seem real soon enough. I hope so! Because I've been ready for this baby to come out for about a month already.

It's funny, because I've never really liked other people's kids. Don't get me wrong, I will babysit for people, hold their kids, play with their kids, but am thankful to get away from them and have some peace and quiet. So, it's funny that I even wanted some of my own. I think I always wanted to create a family like I had growing up.

My family is awesome and they are all in NM right now celebrating Christmas. It's my first Christmas I've ever spent away from them. And I gotta be honest, it's so sad. I know I can't leave town because the baby is going to come anyday now but I sure miss being around my parents and my brothers right now. My mom bought everyone matching red pajamas, they sent me a picture, and it was so funny. I wish that I had been there. I miss the teasing, the food, watching Christmas Vacation with everyone, having exercise contests to see who is the most fit, watching my Dad take "double bites" of food and filming him when he's not aware we're doing it. Watching my Mom cry over how great one of her kids is, Phoebe and Scruffy trying to fight with my dogs. I miss just hanging out in my PJs and watching everyone just enjoy being together. I've never understood families that don't have the same relationship like I have with mine.

Anyway, I'm going to go back to talking to my Abby. Will we be part of that 5%? Probably not, but maybe she'll hear me, and decide today is the day she will finally arrive!

No, new NEWS

Wow, this is crazy. People will tell you tons of things about pregnancy, but no one ever told me how miserable waiting for the baby to come can be! I'm grateful that my company gave me a month off before my due date but I'm almost thinking I should have stayed working. I'm starting to get really bored. I think I'll start going to the movies everyday, Avatar starts today. My mom is leaving today. I'm a little sad, because now I'm going to be alone during the day.

She said, "Maybe the baby will come when I leave." She really wanted to be here when the baby was born. I don't know. This little girl doesn't seem to be in a hurry to see the world. I guess the little Christmas dress I bought her to wear at church, we'll save for New Year's day mass or have her wear it to every Sunday mass in January!!

Ok, over and out for now.

Waiting for Labor to start SUCKS!

I am looking at the title to my very first post and feel somewhat bad that it sounds so harsh. But, I am 9 months and almost 3 weeks pregnant and it does suck right now. This waiting has been the most difficult thing about being pregnant! The worst thing is that people keep telling me (and have been telling me for the last month) that I'm going to have the baby early, that there is no way Abby will come late, grrr! Of course, I have believed them.

I've had a few friends that have had babies recently, they all had girls, they all were late. My friends that have had boys, have had them early. Is it a boy/girl thing, you think? I don't know!

I've tried to keep busy. I washed all the screens and windows on the back side of our house. Not easy going up and down a ladder 9 months preggo. I finished my scrapbook for the baby. I reorganized my sock drawer, done laundry, dusted, vacuumed, swept the sidewalk outside, wrapped the Christmas present, etc.

I was really nervous about labor, but now I just don't care. I was being picky about the day of the month the baby would be born on, I didn't want it to be an odd day, now I don't care. I was worried about what time of day she would be born, it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is that she's healthy. I have had a few dreams where she was smashed from being balled up in my small frame for so long that her little nose was smooshed when she came out. I keep telling Jay that when we have her I only want him to worry about her, just take care of her. That's all I care about. I'll be fine.

Anyway, I started this blog as an outlet for my boredom.
